Google Teacher Academy

I am absolutely thrilled (and surprised!!) to have been accepted on to the Google Teacher Academy in April. It is a fantastic opportunity for me to meet like-minded individuals and share ideas and collaborate with other ICT advocates from throughout the UK and beyond.

I mentioned in my previous post that my acceptance has led me to aim to be much more proactive in my use of social media, as the inspiration and development I have gathered in the last few years through this media is immeasurable. Many of the attendees of the GTA (as well as many, many who are not) have inspired me from afar using this media in a far better way than I and if I gain nothing else (I'm sure that won't be the case!) then hopefully, I have found a passion for being a much greater contributer to the ICT teaching community.  I am also looking forward to seeing and hearing about many of the Google Apps that I am unfamiliar with. I am sure that there are many Apps that would greatly benefit the schools with which I work and hearing people's experiences of using Google Apps will enable me to support these schools better -  although it will be interesting to see if it causes a conflict of interests with my supporting schools with It's Learning (might need to be another blog post!!).

As you can probably tell, I am very much looking forward to my time at the Google Teacher Academy and having negotiated with the powers that be to attend both days, I fully intend to make the most of this fantastic opportunity.  In case you're interested, I've embedded the video I had to create as part of the application. Please be gentle with me, its the first time I've had to do anything like this and I found it incredibly hard to keep it down to one minute!!

  1. I've said it before and I'll say it again, "Well done Marc!". I'm delighted that you got into #GTAUK and I'm even more thrilled that you've been inspired to blog. Also have to say a cheeky, "Down with It's Learning and thumbs up to Google Apps for Edu!". You know we're always right at Leamore! :-)
